Perennials

Artemisia are largely perennial plants with many small yellow or greenish yellow flower heads grouped in clusters. The leaves are usually divided and alternate along the stem; they may be green, grayish green, or silvery white. Many of the plants are aromatic because of the presence of essential oils. 

These plants are known for their fluffy, feathery plumes of flowers that come in a range of colors, including pink, purple, red, and white. Astilbe is a tidy perennial flower that doesn’t spread. It is deer-resistant and thrives in shady areas of the garden 

Coneflowers, aka echinacea, are tough perennials in the daisy family (Asteraceae) native to the United States that bloom in midsummer. Deer-resistant, coneflowers are beloved by butterflies, bees, and songbirds.

 Epimedium genus is a group of plants described as carpeting perennials. Native to woodlands in Asia and the Mediterranean regions, these spring blooming plants encompass dozens of varieties that grow well under trees, and in shade and rock gardens, adding a burst of spring color to the landscape.

Hardy Geraniums are true perennial geraniums with long bloom seasons and a neat growth habit. They are also known as Cranesbill.

Native to North America, the plants form round mounds with a woody crown at their base and small bell-shaped flowers that begin in spring or early summer on the tall stems. Rich in nectar, the flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies, plus make nice cut blooms.

Salvia  thrives in warm weather. There are many varieties and all provide strikingly vivid flowers that can tolerate drought, heat, and require minimal maintenance once established. Salvia attracts bees and other pollinators, and it is deer and rabbit resistant. 

 Sedum, also known as Stonecrop, is a hardy perennial that is both deer and drought resistant. And although it’s waxy, compact foliage brings excellent spring and summer interest to flowerbeds, it is in the late summer and early fall when it comes to life with its magnificent, airy blooms. 

The plant grows into a dense clump of thick, soft, velvety, silver-green leaves that form a low-spreading groundcover. They are evergreen in warmer climates. In summer, tiny, purplish-pink flowers appear that are best removed to enhance the foliage and to help maintains its compact habit.
